Good Back Pain Treatments—Easy-To-Do At Home Back Pain Treatments

Posted by Admin on Monday, October 05, 2009 - 10:59 PM

Eight out of ten North Americans suffer from back pain at some time during their adulthood. And for this reason, over 50 billion dollars is spent on back pain treatments a year including appointments to chiropractors, medications, and surgeries. Do not let this be you; do not pay a dime for your back pain treatments. Over the last ten years my family has tested what is good, and what just simply does not work when it comes to back pain treatments.

Our good back pain treatments come from a variety of strategies including: preventing back pain, staying healthy, stretching and exercising your back, and relieving stress from your back. In order to relief your back pain once in for all, it takes these precise tips/steps.

PREVENTION

Prevention is the key, even if your back pain has already started, it is important to stop the cause, or you will never be able to get your back pain to cease. To do this, always have proper posture. Watch yourself in your daily activities (including sitting, standing, and driving). At any time do you put more pressure on your lower back than any other part of your back? This is the most common cause of back pain. Also, be careful when lifting, always use your knees, do not bend over with your back. When trying to prevent back pain you also must stop smoking, eat healthy, and exercise regularly.

STRETCHING/EXERCISING

One of the stiffest times for your back is when you wake up, so you must be careful and not strain it too much. Watch what you do in the morning, and always try to support your back with your hand on a counter or dresser. Or, in the morning you can do what I do. I do a neck, back, stretch as soon as I wake up. It takes about two minutes or less, and it just helps loosen up your back and gets your blood flowing to wake you up.

To do the neck, back, stretch, first stand up with your knees slightly bent. Then, put your hands together in a prayer position close to your chest at shoulder length and put your fingers outward. Then stretch out some, turn your hands outward, and stretch out more until you feel the stretch in your back and neck. Hold this position for ten seconds and repeat as much as you want, I normally repeat it around five times.

My favorite exercise move is one that is for your back, neck, arms, legs, and abs. It can be super easy or difficult, it is up to you. It is called the plank. First, lay on your stomach in a push-up position. Then balance on your toes and elbows (or knees and elbows for easy). Keep your back and legs straight, like a plank. Tighten your abs and hold the position for ten seconds. Relax then repeat five to ten times.

RELIEVING THE STRESS

To relieve stress off your back do cold or hot treatments, whichever you prefer, and get massages, whether from a spouse or therapist. When getting a massage, be sure if you take on a lot of daily stress that they rub out your knots.

Cold and hot treatments are simple, and no I am not talking about expensive pads that stick to you, I am talking about almost free water and ice. For hot treatments, simply take a HOT bath, I do as hot as I can stand, and be sure that you get every muscle under water that is holding tension. It is amazing the pressure it takes off. For cold treatments you have two options.
1) Have a spouse give you a massage, rotating between his or her hands and using an ice pack.
2) Lie on your bed with a pillow under your knees and lay on top of an ice pack.

I hope these back pain reliever tips help you as much as they helped me and my family. Best of luck to you!
